Risk Assessment
David Townsend Fire Consultancy Services: The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 came into effect on October 1st 2006. Itīs provisions place considerable responsibility on employers, building occupiers and owners.
We conduct and write fire risk assessments and can also train key staff to be competent in the maintainence of the assessment.
We assess and evaluate existing and draft fire risk assessments.
Fire risk assessment is the fundamental backbone of all fire and safety legislation in the UK and EU. Whilst guides are available for self-compliance and various courses are available, their use may prove to be time-consuming and expensive. Unless the users already have considerable knowledge and experience these guides will take considerable time to understand and use effectively.
The Fire Risk Assessment is a flexible document: As the circumstances in or around the building change the Risk Assessment must be reviewed and adjusted accordingly. For this reason many owners and occupiers will need to have the ability and knowledge to make those adjustments. This is particularly true of multi-use, multi-occupied buildings such as entertainment and shopping complexes. Continued review and monitoring by a competent person is essential.
David Townsend is an Associate Consultant to the Fire Protection Association (FPA) for the purpose of Fire Risk Assessments. He is also a lead tutor to the Building Research Establishment (BRE) Fire Risk Assessor Course. This is a level three course (ABBE awarding body). David is a candidate assessor and Internal Verifier.
